Snapshot: Voting Moroccan style!

Election Day here in the USA…standing in one of those ballot boxes today made me think of Morocco’s system for voting. Drive through the rural areas and you’ll see the voting wall simply painted on the side of a concrete building, such as an elementary school like you see in the image below.

Voting Wall in Morocco

Candidates are separated by number. To cast your ballot, simply show up, grab a piece of chalk and add your mark under the corresponding candidate you’re voting for. I’m sure there’s more to it, but that was the simplified version according to our guide.

Ha! Did you notice the writing on the wall…Ecole ARGUE? Not sure if that’s the village name. But how ironic for word choice. Guess it’s universal. Can’t have an election without it!

  • admin - Thank you! I’m afraid I don’t know anything more about the voting procedure than described. Didn’t see it in action. Wonder how long their lines are?
